Tips to save Battery Life of an HTC Android SmartPhone

I’ve seen a lot of talk on the internet about terrible battery life, I’ve even experienced it myself but I won’t declare anything without being sure. I can now declare that the HTC smartphone does not have a battery life problem! It’s smartphone with a lot going on plus the physical and chemical limitations play a factor. Until battery tech improves, which you just have to live with it and charge whenever you used up all battery on your smartphone.

How To Check Battery Level
Settings > About phone > Battery : gives Battery Status, Battery Use, Battery Level, Up time and Awake time. You can see it breaks down battery usage too.

Tips to save Battery Life
1# Stop Syncing! Go to Settings > Accounts & sync and Untick Background data & Untick Auto-sync. For me, I stopped HTC Sense, News and Weather from syncing. If you really want these, maybe just drop their frequency an extra hour or few.

2# Turn Off Wi-Fi & Bluetooth! Select Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks and then un-check Wi-Fi & Bluetooth. Having Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on permanently can really impact battery life.

3# Turn down screen brightness! Go to Menu > Settings > Sound & Display > Brightness. You must untick automatic brightness and you can drag the brightness down slightly to save on battery life.

(For the above three setting, you may add ‘Power Control’ Widget for easy access with just tap.)

4# Reduce Screen Timeout Interval! Settings > Sound & display > Screen timeout (default 1 min) > Reduce to less than 1 min (15 seconds minimum)

5# Turn Vibrate off! Settings > Sound & display > Untick Phone Vibrate. And now for Vibrate feedback: Settings > Sound & display > Untick Vibrate feedback.

6# Turn Live wallpapers off! Go to Menu > Wallpaper and select a static wallpaper instead.

7# Turn 3G off! Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks and change Network Mode into GSM(2G). For your information WCDMA is 3G. Turn on when you need it.

8# Try a task management application from the Android Market such as ‘Automatic Task Killer’. But remember not to close tasks that are important for you, such as juice defender and etc.

Hope this helps you stay online longer on your HTC Smartphone. Remember, if you have any more tips please say so in the comments below. Thanks~
